Toshiyuki Aoshima (青嶋 紀元 Aoshima Toshiyuki) is the resident playboy of Nekomi Institute of Technology, and the first cousin of Sayoko Mishima. He is enamored by Belldandy's beauty and makes failed attempts to win her over from Keiichi.

Aoshima is a handsome young man with a pale complexion, brown eyes, and short dark brown hair, neatly arranged, and parted slightly to the side. Much like his cousin Sayoko, Toshiyuki comes from a rich family and is considered quite attractive to the opposite sex. Because of this, he is one of the more popular students attending the Nekomi Instituee of Technology, and is often seen surrounded by groups of girls. He is usually seen dressed in the standard garb of a like a wealthy young gentleman, his typical clothing consisting of a suit and tie, collar shirt, dress pants, and black shoes. He wears a pair of thinly-framed glasses, and carries himself with a air of confidence.

The heir to the Aoshima Conglomerate uses his money and looks as a means to attract women with marginal success, and because of this, he is known around the NIT Campus as the resident playboy. Despite his benevolent demeanor and gentlemanly countenance, Aoshima is easily angered and will do anything to gain what he wants, even if it involves using his influence and money to do so. While he can be quite generous and accommodating to his dates and other attractive females, it is mostly a ploy to win them over to his side. Toshiyuki becomes irritated when women refuse his advances, even going as far as to harass them after the fact, and will even scheme against them in pursuit of revenge. While he shares many characteristics with his cousin Sayoko, Aoshima is shown to be pushier and overall less pleasant when angered.

Toshiyuki grew up as the wealthy heir to the Aoshima Conglomerate, a wealthy, multifaceted business group run by his family. As some point, he enrolled in the Nekomi Institute of Technology, becoming its resident playboy.

New Rivals ArcEdit

At the beginning of the New Semester, Belldandy and Urd help out the Auto Club by dressing up to attract new members, the former catching the eye of a Toshiyuki Aoshima. Enamored by her beauty, he joins in order to get closer to her, even winning over Keiichi's trust, while plotting ways to steal her from him. The next day at the Auto Club's hangout, Aoshima enters and apologizes for being late, only to be pulled into a bone-crushing hug by Toraichi Tamiya. After spending some time celebrating with new members, he gets into his car and greets Keiichi and Belldandy as they leave, allowing the couple to take his new Ferrari for a ride under the guise of generosity and friendship. Although Keiichi enjoys testing out the vehicle, Belldandy senses a strange darkness around their supposed friend and wonders what it is. Meanwhile, Aoshima has two men damage Keiichi's motorcycle while they are away, offering Belldandy a ride home in return. She refuses, but Keiichi doesn't know how long it will take to fix his bike and insists she go. Aoshima then takes her for a romantic ride to set the mood and tries to get her to sleep with him at the local love hotel, but Belldandy becomes angry and sends him flying through the ceiling, collapsing to the ground from loss of power moments later. Keiichi arrives moments later riding on Tamiya's bike, having been tipped off about Aoshima's lecherous ways by his cousin, Sayoko Mishima. As the couple heads home, Aoshima ponders to himself what kind of power he just experienced.

Now curious as to what happened, Aoshima finds himself questioning what type of power Belldandy has, only to be interrupted by Sayoko. She claims to have the same suspicions, so the two cousins team up to discover the truth. They spend the day stalking Belldandy and Keiichi with a video camera in hand, but their plot is foiled by Urd, who continually follows them around causing all sorts of trouble. The troublesome duo finds it bizarre that she was seemingly able to find them anywhere they went, but Sayoko shrugs it off, saying they should hurry and get the tape analyzed by the parapsychology club on campus. Aoshima attempts to produce the footage only to learn that the tape is missing, only angering his cousin. They follow Keiichi and the others back to the temple, but Aoshima ends up losing himself while spying on Belldandy in the shower. Sayoko takes over for him onky to get them caught, which results in the Goddess washing them away with a powerful water spell. The next day, they kidnap Keiichi with the help from the S&M Club, but by the time Belldandy comes to the rescue, Urd has already saved the day. Keiichi then tells her to catch Sayoko and Aoshima before they have their video tape analyzed, so Belldandy flies after them by enchanting a broomstick. She admits to being a Goddess when asked by Sayoko, but they refuse to believe it and have the tape analyzed anyway. Urd then reveals she edited the footage to make their magic look like cheap special effects, puzzling Aoshima and Sayoko even more.

During a big competition in which the NIT Auto Club will compete against colleges from around the world, Aoshima plots to ensure that Keiichi loses, mistakenly believing that if his teammates yell at him for the loss, Belldandy will defend him and Keiichi will reject her for insulting his manly pride, resulting in a breakup. In order to ensure his plan works, Toshiyuki tells two professional racers from America that Belldandy and Keiichi are the best in Japan, while paying off a third racer to cause trouble for Keiichi in the qualifying race. Although the latter appears to work, Urd brings Keiichi's kart to life to remedy the situation, allowing him to qualify for the final rounds easily. Aoshima tries to get the Auto Club disqualified from the next race by locking Belldandy in a trailer to make her late for the rally, but his attempts fail when she uses magic to escape. Although he decides to rely on other factors to hamper their efforts, his plans ultimately fail when Keiichi and Belldandy emerge victorious from the final race.
